Princess Quilt from Addicted to Quilts

My nieces when they were little (they are now in their twenties) named this room in their grandmother's house 'The Princess Room'.

A Princess Room needs a Princess Quilt.

I quilted it with an freehand allover rose pattern.

I love the Liberty fabric in the main squares.

Thistles from Addicted to Quilts

This gorgeous quilt is made by Donna.  The pattern is called Thistles by Fig Tree & Co.  It was quilted with an allover freehand cloud design.

I especially like the flying geese sashing and how the four smaller star blocks make up one larger block.

Blank and White Log Cabin from Addicted to Quilts

Another quilt by Karen this month.  You can see her Harlequin Stars quilt here.

Karen decided to be adventurous and chose a black thread which showed the quilting on the white areas.  I quilted it with a freehand leaf design.

Harlequin Stars from Addicted to Quilts

This gorgeous quilt was made by Karen.  The pattern is Harlequin Stars by Emma Jean Jansen.  I have this pattern myself, and it is on my (very long) to do one day list.

I love the fabrics that Karen chose, and the way she has incorporated the striped fabrics.

Karen chose to have my freehand allover feather plume pattern.  I love how it gives texture and you can see the feathers in the white around the stars.  But at the same time it doesn't overpower the piecing.

The back was a vibrant green, and you can see the quilting ...

Daisy Quilt from Addicted to Quilts

This pretty quilt was made by Alison.  She chose to have an allover daisy pattern for the quilting which shows up nicely in the border.

Alison decided to applique the centre of the flowers rather than piece them.  I love how she has fussy cut some of her fabrics - you can see little bunny rabbits and dogs in this photo.

Whimsy from Addicted to Quilts

This is one of my quilts which I have recently finished.  It is called Whimsy and is designed by Judy Newman.

It was a project that a friend chose for us both to make to keep us connected even though we now live in different states as she moved to Brisbane a few years ago.

I think this is the first quilt I have made along with a friend where I have finished it first.  I am usually the one that is distracted with other projects.  However in the first lockdown of March/April last year I found it therapeutic ...

Allover Flowers from Addicted to Quilts

Another quilt from Kay.  I love her fabrics, but I am a sucker for neutral tones.

Kay chose an allover freehand flower that is similar to the print in one of the fabrics which I think was perfect for the quilt.

The quilting shows nicely on the back.

Liberty and Embroidery from Addicted to Quilts

Judi made this gorgeous quilt for her daughter.

It was quilted with an allover medium meander in the centre so it didn't distract from the embroidery, and an allover leaf pattern in the border so the quilting could be more of a feature. As I quilt freehand I switch between the two designs as I go. By having allover quilting the quilt is lovely and soft and will be beautiful on a bed to sleep under.

Judi's embroidery was exquisite and I enjoyed looking at each one as I was quilting it.

This one is my favourite.

Some Allover Quilts for Customers from Addicted to Quilts

Since October last year I have started quilting for customers again.  I am only taking allover quilting at this stage.

Even though I have moved to the Western side of Melbourne I have been flattered with how many of my regular customers have both waited for me to come back to work after my sabbatical, and were willing to mail their quilts to me, or to drive further to drop them off.

When I happen to be in the Eastern suburbs, which is usually around once a month, I am doing car park drop offs and collections - swapping quilts between ...

Quilt to Illinois from Addicted to Quilts

Today I mailed a quilt to a friend in Illinois.  She is not a quilter, and doesn't follow my blog, so this won't spoil the surprise.  She is a teacher, and as for many people, 2020 has been a tough year for her.

Last time I send a package to her instead of taking two weeks to arrive as it should have, it took nearly two months and we had given it up as lost.  So this time I don't intend to tell her that something is on its way.  Hopefully it won't take as long ...

Jelly Roll Crosses from Addicted to Quilts

I made this quilt to use up a jelly roll I had won.   I quilted it with allover freehand feathers.

I plan to give it to a friend that will find a good home for it.

The back was pieced to use up some fabric I had in my stash, but you can see the quilting nicely with the white thread.
